Lake Chelan, a 45 minute drive from the town of Leavenworth, is one of the most popular summertime destinations in the state and is well known as a hotspot for swimming and boating. This stunning timelapse video highlights the diverse landscapes of the Chelan area throughout the season, including balsam root covered hillsides and rolling clouds, along with the popular lake vista.
We spoke to creator Sy Stepanov, professional photographer from Chelan about how he created this piece. Sy, an advertising, commercial, and architectural photographer has recently branched out into professional nature photography, which until recently has been a hobby for him.
The vido was shot using a Canon 5D ii and an assortment of “L” lenses. Sy says, “I use a Dynamic Perception Stage Zero Dolly for my moving time lapse videos. I shoot RAW images as opposed to video. My workflow then goes through Lightroom, Quicktime, then Premiere Pro for final rendering.” Between scouting, traveling to the spots, setup, image capture, rendering, editing, archiving, and final production he estimates he probably spent about 80 to 100 hours on this project. Enjoy!
