It’s opening day at the Leavenworth Ski Hill on December 10th, 2011. Today marks the start of the ski season for the historic Leavenworth Winter Sports Club. The Leavenworth area has seen little snow thus far this season. We are seeing the snow vaporize around town but not surprisingly the cold corner pocket that holds the ski area has plenty of snow for sliding. The ski area is in limited operations with the big hill running but not the upper mountain. The little rope tow needs more snow to run. The LT Michael Adams tubing rope tow and hill is in full swing and the kids are holding on tight for the roller coaster ride.
Congratulations to the team that pulled it all together. A blast from the past but yes, they trucked in 14 dump truck loads of snow to get the tubing run up to standard. There is also some off site snow under a stretch of the big tow. Good work team and look forward to another magical season at the Leavenworth Ski Hill!
Don’t forget that the lodge is open and the $0.50 cookies are fresh and the fire place is toasty warm for your chilly fingers. Learn more at SkiLeavenworth.com
Pavel, our local ski patrol goes Hollywood while the paparazzi captures his smooth telemark ski styles.
The kids pause for a group shot at the fun spot AKA Lt Michael Adams Tubing Park.
Simon holds on for another thrill ride.
Cal digs into the details, putting on leather gloves from Marson and Marson Hardware Store. Yes, you will burn through your nice ski gloves on this high speed rope tow.
Will gets caught by the paparazzi. He says “It’s 5:30 and I’m skiing until this place closes!” Note his nice glove protectors!
