While most everyone is bustling about doing last minute shopping work continues to restore power to the Plain/ Chumstick/ Lk. Wenatchee area. Icicle TV spoke to the Chelan County PUD this afternoon and it sounds like crews are making progress towards binging the lights back on, but be warned, it will be a long haul. The Main line to US2 and the lower Chumstick lines are up as well as all three substations in the area. Crews are taking advantage of the break in the weather and working hard to clear hundreds of trees and repair lines in many areas, some which may not see completion for a while. 140 people from Chelan County Public Works, Sherriff’s Office and Chelan County PUD are working to help our friends and nebhiors affected by the weather. Relief to local families is being provided by the Apple Valley chapter of the Red Cross, serving hot meals to families at Coles Corner every day at 4:00 PM. 35 people showed up last night. Those wishing to donate or volunteer can contact the AVRC at 509-663-3907.
The PUD has a page set up for news, alerts and information that is updated several times a day that info can be found here: chelan pud.org. Many PUD linemen working the outage are from out of town and they will be continuing work until late tonight, and through tomorrow so give them some love for missing their own holiday to help others! Workers will have a hot meal provided tomorrow at Krystal’s Restaurant tomorrow at 4:30- 8:00. The forecast is for a return to stormy weather tomorrow, so let’s all keep our fingers crossed that the lines hold!
