The 2nd annual Leavenworth Film Festival was a huge success last weekend as hundreds of people gathered to enjoy films, culture, and community. The Main Event was on Saturday night, April 5th, at the Leavenworth Festhalle where over 600 people walked the red carpet, posed for paparazzi, watched 24 amazing short films, enjoyed 2 aerial acrobatic performances during intermission, and consumed plenty of ice-cold brews provided by our local friends at Icicle Brewing Company.

Films included harrowing speed wing flights, nerve-racking climbing scenes, creatively shot skateboarding sequences, and inspiring stories of triumph, life, and personal growth.  At the end of the show, the six winning filmmakers who will receive over $2,000 in cash prizes were announced.  Congratulations to all the filmmakers who had films selected to be shown, and to those who walked away with awards. In case you missed it, below is a video trailer that includes footage from several of the films that were shown.

On Sunday, Fitz Cahall, of TheDirtbagDiaries, and the adventure film The Road from Karakol which played at the festival, conducted a workshop at the Snowy Owl Theater to a group of a couple dozen titled Adventure Filmmaking: The Art of Discovery. Duct Tape, Beer, and Seven Other Essentials for Bringing Great Adventure Stories to Life.  The workshop was fun, casual, and very informative, providing a basic background and road map for telling great stories through film. A huge, thank you to Fitz Cahall for helping to make this festival more than a single day event, and thank you to all those who were inspired to attend.  Watch for more workshops in future years.

Icicle TV would like to thank everyone who took part to make the event a huge success including all the attendees, our sponsors, the hard-working volunteers, and all the filmmakers who submitted films. Without you, this festival wouldn’t exist.  And what a shame that would be! SPECIAL THANKS to the Leavenworth Winter Sport Club (LWSC).  Proceeds from the festival will benefit the Ski Hill Memorial Project in our hometown of Leavenworth, WA.  So, a HUGE THANK YOU TO ALL!  We look forward to seeing everyone next year for the 3rd annual Leavenworth Film Festival!

Thanks again and Cheers!
