The snow has melted in Leavenworth, save for a few random patches in the shade, and the ground is coming alive again.  Crocuses and hyacinths are blooming in flowerbeds and the first of the wildflowers are beginning to show themselves.

One of the best places to view wildflowers in the Leavenworth area is at Ski Hill, located at the top of Ski Hill road, a quick drive or bike ride from the downtown core.   While the more showy displays of balsams and lupine will take another couple of weeks to begin, we were able to spot glacier lilies, spring beauties, and trillium.

If you do get out on the trails at Ski Hill or up the Icicle, keep an eye out for these little beauties.   They can be found this time of year on South Facing Slopes that receive a good amount of sun.
